Class of 1968

Can you believe that soon it will be 50 YEARS since we marked the milestone of our graduation from Saint John’s Prep? A group of us from the Class of 1968 are planning our 50th Reunion. This is the BIG ONE: whether you graduated or not, we want all members of the Class of ’68, and your spouses or significant others, to attend the weekend of June 15-17, 2018 at Saint John’s Prep.

Please put these dates on your calendar. We will have an on-campus “hospitality room” for us to hang out and reminisce with each other. The big event is the induction of our class into the Twin Towers Club on Friday June 15, 2018. This is a fun dinner and late night filled with memories and tall tales. There’s an open mic, so be prepared to stay up late and share your stories.

Saturday is filled with fun activities, everything from a nature walk to the Chapel and tours of the Pottery Studio, the new Saint John’s Bible Gallery and Br. Dietrich Reinhart Learning Commons to a painting/wine tasting class and yoga on the beach. The evening includes mass and a casual dinner at Br. Willie’s Pub. We hope you will plan to stay both Friday and Saturday night.

Our Days at the Prep School

We recall various events that happened 50 years ago including the Vietnam War, the music of the Doors, Stones, Beatles, etc., the introduction of “muscle cars”, Mr. Twomey’s Mustang, the first Super Bowl, the space race and the Civil Rights movement (Bobby and Martin were both taken from us within a couple months before graduation). Oh, and mail call, night prayers, nickel candy bars, a noisy dorm, walking a mile to the refectory, and the smell of new concrete everywhere. We might especially remember our own friends and successes in sports, tournaments, performances, as well as in other activities.

These all may remind us of our days at the Prep School and have touched a nostalgic chord. This has moved us to promote the reunion to get as many of you as possible to attend so we can once again enjoy each other’s company on campus. We hope you can make it! We had record-breaking turnouts for number 40 and 45; let’s break those records!

Class Survey

Attendees of past reunions often wished they had more time to learn of the lives of their classmates. What did you do after graduation? We want to know! Please accept this invitation to share information about your life, family and career. This survey is an opportunity for those who attend the reunion, as well as for those who do not attend, to learn more about each other’s lives following Prep School. Answer or skip questions as you see fit. Responses will be compiled into an electronic yearbook and distributed prior to Reunion Weekend. Please include a digital photo of yourself as well as your email address. Deadline for response is May 5, 2018. Whether you plan to attend the reunion or not – we hope to hear from you. You may access the survey here.

Please contact Lee Jordan with any update information. Email or call 218.831.0358.

You can expect another letter from us after the first of the year with details about Reunion activities and the names of classmates planning to attend. Make sure to check out the Class of ’68 Facebook page “SJP Class of ’68, Collegeville, MN”. Become a “Member” to post and view other posts.
See you in June!
