Boys’ Tennis

Mark Muntifering

The Johnnies went 2 and 1 in their 3 meets last week.  On Thursday, SJP/CHS lost to Foley 6-1.  Despite losing, Tony Liu ’20 had a great match – falling 6-4 and 7-5.  The team hosted a triangular meet on Friday and swept their matches against Benson and Mora 4-3 and 5-2 respectively.  In the Mora match Tony Liu won at number 2 singles 6-1, 6-2 and Jack Rogers ’18 and Christian Brenny ’18 won at #3 doubles.  Jack and Christian also posted a win in the Benson match 6-0 and 6-0.  Cooper Chevalier ’21 continues to give the team steady play as well.

Boys’ Baseball

Dan Stark

On Friday afternoon, the Johnnies built a four run lead early in the game with RBI from Nick Foss ’18, John Martone ’18 (two) and Kevin Stark-Haws ’12. But a second inning two-run homer by Long Prairie cut the lead in half. The Johnnies continued to put men on base with a good hitting effort, but LPGE eventually wore the Johnnie pitching down and a big sixth inning put the game out of reach. The Johnnies will be in action at home this week against Browerville and Upsala.
