Meet Our Teachers- Paul Keyworth

Meet Paul Keyworth, ESOL Director

Paul Keyworth is the Saint John’s Prep ESOL teacher and program director. Besides teaching, he is also one of our founders of “Table Talk,” a monthly lunch gathering that brings together students from all over the world to chat and get to know each other. Besides providing language practice, this gives students the opportunity to get to know each other and form new friendships.

Mr. Keyworth completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Kent at Canterbury in England. After graduating, he left Britain and embarked upon his career in English language teaching.

Since 2002, Mr. Keyworth has taught in a wide variety of educational contexts in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK, and the USA. In 2014, he attained his Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language TESL (MA TESL) at St. Cloud State University and the “Teaching English to Teenagers” certification from the University of Oxford’s Department of Continuing Education.

One of his favorite memories of his time at Saint John’s Prep is watching the expressions on the faces of the visiting Kaisei Gakuin High School students and staff from Hokkaido, Japan as they saw all the Saint John’s Prep faculty gather in front of the school entrance dressed as Harry Potter characters!

“I enjoy working closely with our diverse group of English Language Learners, having the freedom to create a curriculum and choose learning materials that are tailored to their specific needs,” Mr. Keyworth says. “The students of Saint John’s Prep are passionate, responsible, excellent and prepared.”

During school holidays, Mr. Keyworth loves traveling in the United States and overseas to experience and learn about the food, languages, cultures, and histories of new places. His favorite hobby is chess, but he also loves hiking, exercising, playing tennis, reading (especially non-fiction), and listening to rock, pop, and classical music.

If you’d like to contact Mr. Keyworth about supporting the ESOL program or learning more about volunteer opportunities with new English learners, please email him.
