In Memoriam ~ Paul Thomas East. Alumni Class ’73

Paul Thomas East, 61 years old, passed away this week unexpectedly in Alaska while on vacation with his grandson Aden Scott, his son-in-law Aaron Scott and best friend Steve Bechtold. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his two loving daughters Elizabeth and Melissa, and his two grandsons Ethan and Aden.

Paul was born in Sioux Falls, SD, on April 16, 1955. He attended St. John’s Preparatory school in St. Cloud, MN and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated to become a Certified Public Accountant where he owned his own business for over 39 years. Through his years of hard work and dedication he met many of his life-long friends and clients.

He loved spending most of his leisure time outdoors reading, relaxing and watching sunrises. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed many years fishing in South Dakota, Canada and Alaska. His love of these things shall always be remembered. There are many family members, friends and clients that contributed to Paul’s full and blessed life; too many to list them all. Paul brought great joy to the lives of so many people and his smiling face, twinkling eyes and joyous laugh will be greatly missed by all.

Paul is also survived by two brothers: David East & Greg East, seven sisters: Judy Frazier, Nancy East, Sarah Stejskal, Mary Murphy, Jeannie East, Kathy Baiphowong & Lori Sheldon, and his father George T. East. He is preceded in death by his mother (Mary LuJean), his uncles (Vince & Jerry), as well as his beloved grandparents (Donald & Genevieve Gravett). Paul’s love of life will be honored in a private celebration ceremony pending arrangements.

More information will be available online at: MillerFH.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be directed to the Paul East Memorial Fund.
