Richard A. Appelgren, age 80, of Minnetonka, passed away unexpectedly in El Paso, Texas, Tuesday January 9, 2018.He is preceded in death by his wife Rebecca (Olson) Appelgren, parents Lawrence and Goldie Appelgren.

He is survived by daughters, Michelle (Kim) Stark, Kara (Karl) Knudson and Kirsten (Patricio Celleri) Appelgren: grandchildren, Ricardo, Andrea, Kevin, Eric, and Kyle; siblings Larry (Judy) Appelgren, Diane Auger, Douglas (Linda) Appelgren, Marian (Tom) Wais; many nieces, nephews and loving friends; and beloved dog, Ollie.

Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 16th at Immaculate Heart of Mary located at 13505 Excelsior Boulevard, Minnetonka, MN 55345. There will be an open house to share stories at 16848 Patricia Lane, Minnetonka, MN on Saturday, Feb 17, from 12 pm – 10 pm. Interment Ceremony is at St. John’s Cemetery in Collegeville, MN, on Sunday February 18th at 1 pm.

Memorials preferred to St. John’s Abbey Land Stewardship Endowment. Richard owned Appelgren Rentals for many years in Minneapolis. He loved caring for his wife and others, cooking, reading about history, taking care of the yard, St. John’s, swimming at Williston, Sanibel Island, traveling, and socializing with neighbors. He was loved and will be missed by many.
