Norbert “Norb” Jansen, father of former SJP employee Josie Stang; grandfather of Beckie ’01, Katie ’03 and Mary ’08

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley for Norbert “Norb” W. Jansen, age 84, who passed away peacefully at home on the farm. Rev. Richard Gross will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 1-2 p.m. Monday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley. Knights of Columbus Council 3820 will pray at 7:00 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Eden Valley.

Norb was born Aug. 16, 1930 in Eden Lake Township to Daniel & Elizabeth (Ablen) Jansen. He attended the local country school and lived in the same house all of his life. Norb married Clara Waltzing on Nov. 7, 1959 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg. He was a dairy farmer and retired in 1999. Norb was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 3820 and Catholic United Financial. He enjoyed fishing for sunny’s, playing cards, dancing, morning coffee at the Valley Inn, John Deere tractors, bowling and socializing. Farming was his passion and faith was very important to him.

Survivors include his daughters, Josie (Ron) Stang of St. Nicholas, Jackie (Ron) Mackedanz of Hawick, Joyce Jansen of Paynesville, Janet Jansen of Sauk Rapids and Julie Jansen of Pennock; sister, Rose Patton of Inver Grove Heights; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Norb was preceded in death by his parents; and spouse, Clara on Feb. 14, 2002.
