SJP Senior is Awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship

Saint John’s Preparatory School is proud to congratulate Amelia Broman ’17 for receiving a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. Amelia will attend Carleton College in the fall.

Saint John’s Prep Senior Amelia Broman is the daughter of Bruce Broman and Evelyn Erickson of Saint Cloud. Amelia is also the twin sister of SJP senior Nathan Broman ’17.

Amelia is one of just 2,500 students nationwide to earn the scholarship l. Amelia is among the top scorers of the PSAT/NMSQT® in the United States and Minnesota. Amelia’s scholarship is underwritten by the 3M Company.

At Saint John’s Prep, Amelia is a member of the National Honor Society, Swim Team, Nordic Ski Team, Prep Post Newspaper, jazz band and band. She is also a member of the Knowledge Bowl team, and won the state championship title in 2014.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)–a test which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants each year–and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements.
