Baseball: Shadow Ball
A Celebration of the Negro Leagues with Tom Grandy is will celebrate the 100th anniversary of  Baseball’s Negro Leagues.
Mr. Grandy coaches the Saint John’s Prep’s varsity baseball team and was fortunate enough to be able to take a group of students to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, MO in the fall of 2012.
Mr. Grandy will share a presentation and you will have the opportunity to hear from students and participate in a question and answer session. We hope to discuss the history of baseball, as well as some of the inequities present in American professional sports and our world today.

Register for this event by clicking here or simply log into Facebook for the livestream on August 6 at 7:00 pm!

Mr. Grandy suggests some pre-work that you can do in preparation for this event:
– Watch “An Evening with John “Buck” O’Neil” (free):
– Watch Ken Burns “Baseball; Shadow Game”, available to stream on PBS Passport, iTunes, or Amazon Prime
– Read Buck O’Neil’s autobiography “I Was Right On Time,” Joe Posnanski’s “The Soul of Baseball: A Trip Through Buck O’Neil’s America,” and/or Kadir Nelson’s “We Are the Ship”
