Saint John’s Prep Theatre is staging William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Nights Dream. Director Brandon Anderson has adapted this classic comedy into a sharp and witty production involving a 1960’s era record company. Get ready for a music-filled fast-moving production! Click here to order tickets!

It’s 1968 and Athenian Records CEO Hippolyta has just been bought out by Theseus, the newly recognized power house of the recording industry. Under new ownership we follow the drama of a lovers quartet between Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena who are vocal artists previously signed under the Athenian Record Label. Lysander, sets out to marry Hermia against her fathers will, devises a plan to flee through the woods and to be wed in secret.

On Lysander and Hermia’s journey into the woods, we meet a group of musicians called The Mechanicals who are excited and desperate to rehearse and sign a record deal with Theseus. Their leader, Peter Quience, has written their EP Album and must convince their lead singer Bottom to perform. And if things aren’t funky enough, we bear witness to the feud between Disco Diva Titania and Power House Oberon who are set out to outshine each other with support from their Hippy Communes in an epic sing off battle.

Revenge, love, laughter, magic and dance. May the best diva win!

This show will be staged in our new outdoor theater space, nestled in the woods between Bede Hall, our classroom building, and Saint Michael Hall, our gym and residential space. The entrance to the stage is on the south side of the Prep classroom building, located in the woods next to the Middle School building. Masks must be worn. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own blankets to sit upon and dress for the outdoors. Chairs may not work so well with the slope of the audience.

Handicapped parking and seating are available. Please contact Brandon Anderson for accommodations.
