Let’s get 2018-2019 Started!

From the Principal’s Office

Dear Saint John’s Prep Students and Parents,

Greetings and happy summer from Saint John’s Prep! Having graduated from Prep and having served as the Chair of Prep’s Board of Regents, I am thrilled to now be your new Principal. We’ve worked hard all summer to get ready for the school year and we expect it to be fantastic-filled with excellent learning, great community and Benedictine values. I hope to see you in person on August 20 at the All School Picnic!

Here are just some of the things you need to know to get the year started:

Connect2Prep
The Resources tab in Connect2Prep is home to important details including the school handbook, school calendar, transportation routes, lunch accounts, and parent volunteer forms. Middle school families (grades 6-8) can also find school supplies lists and homeroom assignments.  Upper school students will be able to see schedules on August 14. They will also receive an email from our registrar’s office with details about making changes and registering for college classes.

Schoology
Schoology is home to information about classes, sports teams, and clubs. This is where you will find updates from teachers, coaches and advisors. During the school year, Schoology will be a vital place for class updates and team schedules. If you have questions about athletics, please contact Athletic and Activities Director Bryan Backes.

Upper School Orientation
Orientation is required for all new students and all new students to the upper school, including returning members of the Class of 2022 (all 9th graders). You should have received an email regarding orientation. Please contact Laura Hartog if you are a new family or have a 9th grade student and have not received this information.

Middle School Orientation Program
This program is required for all new middle school students (grades 6-8). All returning 7-8th grade students are invited to also participate in this fun afternoon. You can find a full schedule under the Resources tab in Connect2Prep. Please click here to RSVP for the middle school orientation program.

iPad Distribution – Monday, August 20

  • All returning day students in grades 9-12 can pick up their iPads from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the school library.
  • All new and returning 7-8th grade students can pick-up their iPads from 4:45-5:30 p.m. in the school library.
  • 6th grade students will receive their iPads during the first week of classes.
  • Resident students will be able to pick up their iPads in Emmaus Hall or Saint Michael Hall upon their arrival to campus.

All School Picnic

Let’s share a meal and share our excitement for the new year! All parents, students and siblings are invited to come together as a school community on Monday, August 20. An academic fair will be held in the Weber center from 4:45-5:30 p.m. A bbq dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. The picnic will be on the front lawn and in the Weber Center. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs for seating.

To help us plan the meal, please click here to RSVP and share dietary needs.

Convocation and the First Day of School

The school year will start on August 21, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. Students are welcome to arrive starting at 7:30 a.m. Our annual tradition of the Opening School Convocation will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Abbey Church. All family members are welcome to join us for Convocation! Because of Convocation, Tuesday, August 21 will be a Dress Up Day. (Students are asked to wear shirts with a collar, casual dresses, dressy shorts, etc).

Again, I am very excited to launch this school year! See you at the picnic!

Sincerely,
