Saint John’s Prep Provides Thanksgiving Dinner for Families in Need

Helping Families in Central Minnesota

Saint John’s Prep students are supporting local families by providing the ingredients for holiday meals. In just a week, students and staff collected potatoes, boxed stuffing, gravy, vegetables, frozen pies, canned goods and other Thanksgiving necessities. Students also collected $1,233 to purchase turkeys and other supplies.

The food and money collected will go to the St. Joseph Food Shelf for families in Central Minnesota. The Food Shelf has already started distributing food for Thanksgiving, but staff can still use more support. “There is still an opportunity to help local families this Thanks giving. The Food Shelf is hoping more volunteers, donors and patrons will join their efforts to provide food for our community members in need,” said Dave Fremo, Campus Ministry Director.  “The need is very real for families in our area, so if you are looking to help someone this holiday season, please consider working with the Shelf in the future.”

Contact the Food Shelf for ways to help. The Food Shelf is now located in the former Kennedy School building in St. Joseph.

“We thank our students and their families for coming together and recognizing the importance of sharing with others during this time of need,” said Fremo.
