Benefits of Boarding at
Saint John’s Prep
Students living at a Saint John’s Prep are provided with an excellent balance between nurturing and professional care and the responsibilities that help to teach a well-ordered life. Boarding helps children to learn independence, supports their development, and assists them in becoming mature and responsible members of their community.
Boarding for Boys & Girls
Saint John’s Preparatory School girls live in Emmaus Hall, a short walk from the Prep School. The boys live in Saint Michael Hall, a dormitory adjacent to the Prep School.
Both residence halls are fully equipped with all the comforts of home, including flat-screen TV’s, a community lounge, computers/internet access, washer/dryer, and kitchens. Within Saint Michael Hall, students can enjoy recreational space for indoor basketball, soccer, badminton, and volleyball. Additionally, a large fireplace in the lounge is available for both day and residential students to enjoy. Students may live in single or double rooms, depending on availability. New students should expect to have a roommate. Most students share common restroom facilities.
Long weekends take place four times each year: Fall Break in October, Thanksgiving Break in November, Spring Break in March and Easter Break in March or April. During this time, students will have the opportunity to participate in trips to other parts of the United States or stay with a host family. In recent years, students have enjoyed trips to popular USA destinations including San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angles, Chicago, Seattle, New York, and Orlando! Students also have the opportunity for numerous day and overnight trips throughout the year that include professional sporting events, music concerts, skiing, camping, ethnic restaurants, professional theatre, and shopping.
Both residence halls have full-time adult staff, living in apartments within the residence halls. Our staff are college graduates and qualified professionals. They are experienced with young people and work collaboratively to create a respectful, healthy, and safe living community for our students.
