Boarding helps children learn independence. It supports their development and assists them in becoming mature and responsible members of their community. Request a Tour boarding for Boys & girls BOARDING students live in saint michael hall, a residence hall located adjacent to the prep school. Fully equipped with the comforts of home, Saint Michael Hall includes flat-screen televisions, community lounges, computer and internet access, laundry facilities, kitchens, and welcoming common spaces. Students also enjoy indoor recreational areas for basketball, soccer, badminton, and volleyball. In 2020, Saint Michael Hall underwent a $5.45 million renovation and construction project, creating a modern, secure, and thoughtfully designed living environment. Young women and young men reside under one roof in two distinct living communities, each separated by a light-filled walkway and connected by a shared gourmet kitchen. The renovation included: Fully renovated student rooms A large gourmet kitchen and two additional kitchenettes New community lounges and entertainment nooks Updated bathrooms and laundry facilities A multipurpose study space Enhanced security at all entry points Five new two-bedroom apartments for residential staff and their families Students may live in single or double rooms, depending on availability. New students should expect to share a room. Saint John’s Prep has four long breaks each year: Fall Break (October), Thanksgiving Break (November), Spring Break (March), and Easter Break (March or April). During these times, students may remain in Saint Michael Hall or travel independently. Recent trips have included destinations such Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Throughout the year, boarding students also participate in a wide variety of day trips and occasional overnight excursions, including professional sporting events, concerts, skiing, camping, cultural dining experiences, theater performances, and shopping trips. Saint Michael Hall is staffed by full-time residential professionals who live on campus in the residence hall apartments. Our staff members are college-educated, experienced in working with adolescents, and deeply committed to student well-being. They work collaboratively to create a safe, healthy, and respectful living environment where students feel supported and known. Saint John’s Prep Residential Program The Saint John’s Prep Residential Program (grades 9–12) is committed to providing meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom that challenge and support students’ personal development. By bringing together students from around the world, the boarding program creates a vibrant, diverse community enriched by cultural exchange, lasting friendships, and shared purpose.
