The Prep Fund is the philanthropic lifeblood of Saint John’s Prep. Each year, we must raise nearly $700,000 in donations to subsidize costs not covered by tuition, such as:

• student financial assistance
• teaching and curriculum expenses
• programming costs and operations

Gifts are spent in the same year they are received, having an immediate impact on the school and everyone in it.

Formerly known as The Student Annual Fund, The Prep Fund more accurately reflects the all-encompassing nature of this fund, highlighting who we are and serve, while reinforcing our mission and Benedictine values.

As directed in the Rule of Benedict, we strive to “listen with the ear of the heart,” while encouraging a lively interplay between rigorous thinking and the development of practices for a purpose-filled life. As a result, Saint John’s Prep prepares students for lives of leadership, service, and achievement by instilling an active sense of belonging in our school and empathic engagement with the world around us.

As a valued member of the Prep community, we invite you to name Saint John’s Prep as a beneficiary of your will, retirement plan, life insurance plan, or other planned giving vehicle. Even a modest gift can open doors of possibility and opportunity by:

While The Prep Fund represents short-term capital that is spent annually within the year it is given, an endowment fund is a long-term investment that continues to grow over time and increase in value.  The benefit of this type of fund is that a percentage of the revenue, based on Board policy is drawn each year, while the principal investment remains intact. This percentage, or “draw,” may be allocated to purpose-specific scholarship programs, faculty positions, and facility enhancements.

A well-established endowment is critical to the future success and viability of Saint John’s Prep. The majority of established endowment  gifts support tuition assistance and scholarships, allowing us to make a Prep School education an option for more families and upholding our long-standing commitment to making a Catholic Benedictine education accessible to students of all financial means.
