The Benedictine Leadership Scholarship was established in memory of Ian Lo ‘19. Ian unexpectedly passed away in the summer of 2017. Ian exemplified the ideals of a Saint John’s Prep student by dedicating himself to the school’s core values of Community, Integrity, and Excellence while committing himself to the Benedictine values. Ian dedicated himself to ongoing growth in the classroom, in athletics, and his personal development. Most importantly, Ian was a true friend who loved life and those around him.

The Benedictine Leadership scholarship will be awarded to a junior at Saint John’s Prep School to be directed toward their senior year tuition.

The following criteria shall apply in selecting recipients of the award:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the core values of Saint John’ Prep while demonstrating leadership in the classroom, the community, and all aspects of their life. The ideal candidate has a genuine love and care for all living things, is light-hearted, approaches life with positivity, and has a great sense of humor.

Additional application criteria:
• Open to current Juniors
• Should be an engaged member of the Saint John’s Prep School community
• Should have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher
• Applicant should provide a brief essay (1-2 pages) demonstrating how the core values of Saint John’s Prep has helped form the way they interact with the world
• Provide the names of two Saint John’s Prep faculty members who are willing to serve as references
