ESPORTS SUMMER CAMP
League of Legends Esports Session
Dates: July 8 – 11, 2024
Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Cost: $300

Join our  Saint John’s Prep League of Legends team to learn how to improve your skills individually and work with a team! Learn to boost your overall game sense and ability as a player. Teamwork is an essential component of each game, and campers will learn how to become effective teammates and leaders. In addition, teamwork can sometimes determine a win or a loss in Esports.

Esports campers learn through hands-on exercises from our head coach, Mr. Miller, and his team of skilled assistant coaches. Over the session, students will work on the game’s basic mechanics and learn from Esports experts. Players must be 13 by July 8, 2024, or have parental permission. These sessions are geared toward two levels of experience : 1) brand new – intermediate and 2) Greatly Experienced.

All participants will receive a t-shirt, daily snacks, beverage, and lunch each day, usually at the Refectory.

Young Explorers Day Camp Series: Session Two @ Saint John's Prep

Young Explorers Day Camp Series
Dates: July 10, 17, and 24
Time: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Cost: $50 per date or $120 for all 3

Students entering grades 5-8 will have fun making new friends, getting plenty of fresh air and experiencing the beautiful 2,900 acre campus of Saint John’s Prep and Saint John’s University. Participants will enjoy adventure and age-appropriate discovery activities, guided by academic themes of arts, sciences, and cultural exploration. Each date is filled with fun group activities that exercise the body, challenge the mind and nurture the spirit of our youth.

Focus on Sciences:

Kids will get their hands dirty while participating in an outdoor education program to improve their environmental literacy and emotional connectedness to the natural world. They will learn how to sweep net for insects in the prairie and do some pond dipping for aquatic invertebrates in Lake Sagatagan.

Focus on the Arts:
This session will consist of an introduction to theatre as we spend the morning making new friends, engaging in storytelling activities, and working together to develop and perform original mini-plays. We will then venture “behind the scenes” with a backstage tour of Saint John’s theatre spaces. All skill levels welcome! The second block will bring us into the woods for an introduction to orienteering and hiking through the trails of Saint John’s University.

The first block will be an introduction to cultures around the world, and students will participate in cultural activities! Following this session, students will head over to the kitchen where they will learn basic cooking skills and prepare lunch together. Lunch will also include a traditional food item.

Join us for our second of three events in our Parent Party Series. This time we are learning about Kung Fu, a Chinese martial art that has influenced martial arts around the world. Join us for a night when you and your friends will learn some Kung fu/ Tai chi techniques with Prep Chinese teacher Yahui Shi and Master Deema, who is certified National Kung Fu First Class Referee!

Parents will have fun at Dee Cheng Kung Fu Academy in Waite Park, which is the only authentic Chinese Kung Fu School in Minnesota. Guests will also enjoy traditional hot tea and snack. We encourage you to bring a friend or two to share the Chinese culture.

Dress in comfortable clothes and sneakers. Shoes will not be worn during the official lesson. Please RSVP by January 17

Saint John’s Preparatory School is proud to celebrate the Class of 2025 at Saint John’s Abbey Church on May 23. The ceremony starts with a 3:00 p.m. Baccalaureate Mass with Saint Cloud Diocese Diocese Bishop Patrick Neary, C.S.C. presiding and Saint John’s Abbey Abbot Douglas Mullin, OSB will concelebrate.

The Class of 2025 selected Biology teacher Sarah Pasela to give the faculty address. Liam Spychala of Albany will give the senior address. The members of the Class of 2025 are from 7 countries and 14 Minnesota cities and towns.

In 2025, students from the following Minnesota cities and towns will graduate from Saint John’s Prep: Albany, Avon, Clearwater, Cold Spring, Melrose, New Brighton, Paynesville, Red Lake, Saint Augusta, Saint Cloud, Saint Joseph, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, and Watkins.

The Class of 2025 is made up of young people from the United States, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Hungary, Nigeria, and Vietnam.

First Day of 2025-2026 School Year

Saint John’s Prep will welcome our students, faculty and staff back to campus in August! The first day of school for Saint John’s Prep is August 20, 2025.

We’re currently enrolling students for the upcoming academic year, and our Admission staff are available to connect with you via phone or Zoom to answer questions and offer you a tour of our Middle School, Upper School, residence halls, and our gorgeous campus. If a member of your family is interested in joining the Saint John’s Prep community, contact our admission team.

The  academic year will begin with an opening convocation at the Saint John’s Abbey Church at 8:30am.  Abbot Doug Mullin, along with Head of School Jon Mc Gee, and the entire Saint John’s Prep faculty, staff and student community will be in attendance for the ceremony. Principal Dr. Christine Glomski and Student Council President Vivian Fitch ’26 will be among the speakers at this inspirational launch to the new semester.

Parents, siblings, grandparents, and alumni are welcome to attend this very special event.

Middle School Christmas Concert @ Stephen B Humphrey Theater

The middle school Christmas Concert is scheduled for December 7, 2025 in the Stephen B. Humphrey Theater on the campus of Saint John’s University. The middle school choir, band, and orchestra will all perform delightful Christmas carols and music. This concert will include singers and musicians in grades 6, 7, and 8.

This event is free. No tickets are needed. Guests are asked to be seated ten minutes before the performances begin.

Upper School Christmast Concert @ The Great Hall

The Saint John’s Prep Concert Choir, Concert Band, and String Orchestra present their 2025 Christmas Spectacular “The Light of the World” on Monday, December 8 at  7:00pm in the Great Hall. Admission is free. Father (formerly Abbot) John Klassen ’67 will serve as our narrator. The concert will be streamed using THIS LINK.

Families are asked to please collect a program at the door as the concert is interactive with lots of carol singing! The 7:00pm concert will feature a beautiful candlelit segment with the singing of Silent Night. Candles will be distributed at the door before the concert.
