Every student takes part in our Fine Arts Program at Saint John’s Prep. Our well-rounded curriculum supports the development of appreciation and passion for fine arts that will last a lifetime.
Saint John’s Prep offers a spirited array of varsity and intramural sports. Our programs are inclusive with a strong emphasis on teamwork. Our sports teams give Prep students the opportunity to grow interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Young Explorers Day Camp Series Dates: July 10, 17, and 24 Time: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Cost: $50 per date or $120 for all 3
Students entering grades 5-8 will have fun making new friends, getting plenty of fresh air and experiencing the beautiful 2,900 acre campus of Saint John’s Prep and Saint John’s University. Participants will enjoy adventure and age-appropriate discovery activities, guided by academic themes of arts, sciences, and cultural exploration. Each date is filled with fun group activities that exercise the body, challenge the mind and nurture the spirit of our youth.

July 10 Focus on Sciences: Kids will get their hands dirty while participating in an outdoor education program to improve their environmental literacy and emotional connectedness to the natural world. They will learn how to sweep net for insects in the prairie and do some pond dipping for aquatic invertebrates in Lake Sagatagan.
July 17 Focus on the Arts: This session will consist of an introduction to theatre as we spend the morning making new friends, engaging in storytelling activities, and working together to develop and perform original mini-plays. We will then venture “behind the scenes” with a backstage tour of Saint John’s theatre spaces. All skill levels welcome! The second block will bring us into the woods for an introduction to orienteering and hiking through the trails of Saint John’s University.
July 24 Focus on Cultural Exploration: The first block will be an introduction to cultures around the world, and students will participate in cultural activities! Following this session, students will head over to the kitchen where they will learn basic cooking skills and prepare lunch together. Lunch will also include a traditional food item.
Join Saint John’s Prep alumni for a fun afternoon of BBQ and baseball! This event will begin at the residence of John Sipe ‘61 and Eileen Myles and conclude at CHS field where the Saint Paul Saints are set to take on the Columbus Clippers.
Pregame Prep Social & BBQ Before the game, John ’61 and Eileen are hosting a fun cookout at the courtyard in their building right next door to CHS Stadium in downtown Saint Paul. This pregame social and BBQ will include burgers, brews, and brats!

We are thrilled to welcome our students, faculty and staff back to campus in August! The first day of school for Saint John’s Prep is August 21, 2024.
We’re currently enrolling students for the upcoming academic year, and our Admission staff are available to connect with you via phone or Zoom to answer questions and offer you a tour of our Middle School, Upper School, residence halls, and our gorgeous campus. The academic year will begin with an opening convocation at the Saint John’s Abbey Church at 8:30am. Abbot Doug Mullin, along with Head of School Jon Mc Gee, and the entire Saint John’s Prep faculty, staff and student community will be in attendance for the ceremony. Principal Dr. Christine Glomski and Student Council President Alayna Neal ’25 will be among the speakers at this inspirational launch to the new semester.

After our hike stay for the Fall Festival, an afternoon of family fun with a bonfire, smores, and yard games. The festival will be from 2:30-4:00pm in our new outdoor classroom behind the Prep School.
A Discovery Day at Saint John’s Prep is a great way for students in grades 5-11 to experience our co-ed school. You are invited to spend the day on campus with a current student and attend our innovative classes, meet our teachers, and be immersed in our community.
Coming to a Discovery Day is also a great way for parents to learn about Variable Tuition, our academic programs, go on a campus tour, learn about the Benedictine tradition, and more!

Save the date for our Upper School Christmas Concert in the Great Hall in the Quad of the SJU campus. The show will feature performances from our upper school band, orchestra, jazz band, concert choir and chamber choir. Prep students will fill the Great Hall with an inspirational and uplifting music. This yeat the theme is “The Bells of Christmas.” Saint John’s Abbey Retired Abbot John Klassen ’67 will once again guide us through readings and poems celebrating the season. Expect lots of fun and lots of Christmas carols!
