In Memoriam ~ Howard “Bud” Prairie, Jr. ’44

Howard “Bud” Raymond Prairie, Jr. ’44, age 91 of Brooklyn Park, MN passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020 after a several week journey of physical setbacks that became too challenging to overcome.

Bud was born 8/18/1928 in Marshall, MN. He worked for many years driving a semi and knew all the cafes in town that served the best pies. He was an avid bowler and traveled to Salt Lake City to compete in the American Bowling Congress Championship tournament. He was cheerful, gentle, generous and loved by all. With a skilled mechanical mind and able body, he was always ready and willing to help others. Every time he laughed tears came to his eyes and he passed that trait along to all three daughters.

Bud will be greatly missed and is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Virginia, 1 brother and 5 sisters.

He is survived by his three daughters, Laurel, Leslie (Steve Gorsky), and Carol Weeklund (Scott); his six grandchildren, Andrew Prairie (Ellie), Nathan Nipper (Kelly), Henry Gorsky (Kara Jones), Ellen Gorsky, Alec Tempesta (Katie Holmstrom), Jillian Tempesta; and his great grand-daughter, Alexandra Prairie. He also leaves two brothers, Robert and Michael.

Memorial services will be held on July 10th at 10am with a private inurnment to follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Please note that masks will be required and the service will have a limited capacity.
