Katie Bergstrom ’83 to Serve as Interim Principal

Interim Principal
2018-2019 School Year

Headmaster Fr. Jonathan Licari, OSB has named Katie Bergstrom ’83 as the interim principal for the 2018-19 school year. Katie currently serves as Chair of our Saint John’s Prep Board of Regents and will resign that role while serving as interim principal.

This year, Fr. Licari and the Board of Regents approved a new strategic plan for Saint John’s Prep. To help achieve the goals set by the strategic plan, the Board of Regents is convening a task force to study the structures and systems of other private schools in an effort to develop systems and structures appropriate for our own future. Katie Bergstrom will serve the school as this work is conducted.

Upon graduation from Prep in 1983, Katie earned her BA from The University of Notre Dame before earning her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1991. Katie spent 26 years as a trial lawyer in private practice and recently resigned that position to explore other opportunities.

Katie wishes to share, “As I have often said, Saint John’s Prep helped launch me into the world. I hold this school and this Benedictine community close to my heart. What a joy for me to return and serve in the capacity of interim principal. I look forward to sharing my passion for education and the Prep School with students, families, and faculty.”

Current Principal Pam McCarthy is leaving at the end of 2018 school year to take a position with an independent high school in Collierville, TN. We wish her and her family well as they embark on this move.
