In Memoriam ~ Donald Paul Chvatal ’58

May 14, 1940 – October 4, 2015

Donald was born in Iowa but lived his most happy years in Portland, OR. An accomplished businessman and avid book collector, he would say his greatest achievement was his five daughters: Janet Marie (Cypress, Naia), Judith Angela (Scott), Jennifer Michelle (Jaimey, Thomas James) Jessica Renee (Joshua, Sarah) and Joy Anne (Leah, Lauren, Delilah, Kian). He is also survived by many brothers and sisters, and his mother Dorothy Irene who is 98 years old. He is preceded in death by his father John Joseph and beloved sister Janet.
In lieu of flowers Don asks for gift be made to the Edwards Center at PO Box 6269 Aloha, OR 97007 or at www.edwardscenter.org/give He also suggested you plant a tree in his name.
A funeral mass will be held Monday October 12th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Beaverton at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow.
The Saint John’s Prep community remembers Don’s family in our thoughts and prayers.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
– Matthew 5:3-9
