Norman Plourde ’65

Norman Plourde, 70, passed away at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls, on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Norm was born on August 3, 1947, in New Richmond, WI. He graduated from St. John’s Prep School in Collegeville, MN, in 1965, and from the University of Eau Claire in 1973, with a degree in Business Administration.

He served in the US Navy from 1967 to 1969, stationed on the USS Fort Marion. In May of 1972, he married Sue Plank in Eau Claire, WI. He was an accountant at Automation Displays, Inc., and enjoyed his work there from 1974 until his retirement in 2010.

Norm was involved in the Hallie youth baseball program and had fun coaching t-ball for many years. He liked hunting, his Harleys, working with wood, ATVing, traveling, making wine, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a long-time member of the Hallie Optimist Club and VFW Post 305 of Eau Claire. He looked forward to Tuesday morning breakfast at Mom’s Kitchen, old neighborhood get-togethers, and spending time with four good friends on their annual “canoe” trip.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Tony (Jamie), Dan (friend Jen), and Ryan (Nikki); grandkids, Nola, Beckett and Lily; siblings, Larry, Tom, Mike (Janet), Joe, John, Jeanne (Jerry), Carol (Brice), Donald (Nancy), Annette (Martin), and Greg (Annette).

Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Frances Plourde; brothers, Ralph, Bill and Paul, and sisters, Rachel and Susan.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to family and friends for their support. They also wish to thank the care staff at Home Helpers, Grace Adult Day Care, Our House Memory Care, and his friends at the Memory Cafe in Chippewa Falls, as well as the doctors and staff at Marshfield Clinic and Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire, and Interim HealthCare Hospice of Hudson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home, 1806 17th Ave. in Bloomer. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Hallie Optimist Foundation, PO Box 3011, Eau Claire, WI 54702.
