Saint John’s Prep is an independent college preparatory school guided by Benedictine values for students in grades 6-12. Academic Performance The mean ACT composite score for Prep students is 27 (top 15% nationally). The mean SAT composite score is 1350 (top 11% nationally). 100% of the class of 2020 enrolled in a four-year college or university this fall. Prep is ranked by Niche as the top Catholic school in Minnesota and among the top 3% of all Catholic schools in the U.S. Niche also ranks us among the top 5% of all independent college prep schools in the country. We are cited as the top STEM school in Central Minnesota. Last year, Newsweek included Prep among the top 10% of all public and private high schools nationally for STEM education. Only six schools in Minnesota were included among the top 10% nationally. Geography Our students are from 10 countries and two U.S. states in the fall 2020. Students from Minnesota comprised 87% of all Prep students – nearly one-third of them from St. Cloud , Cold Spring, St. Joseph and Sartell. In total, we enrolled students from 27 different Minnesota communities. Race/Ethnicity Students of color represented nearly 19% of all domestic students enrolled at Prep in grades 6 through 12 in fall 2020, and fully 1 in 5 Upper School students. International students comprised 19% of all Upper School students this fall. Gender Young women made up 51% of all students across all grade levels in fall 2020. Young women comprised 49% of all Prep students in the Middle School, but 53% in the Upper School. Religious Affiliation This fall, Catholic students represented 44% of all Prep students in all grades. Catholic students made up 54% of all students in the Middle School and 38% of students in the Upper School. One in five families of Prep students identified no denominational religious affiliation.
