Young explorers Summer Day Camp Series
Kids entering grades 5-8 have fun making new friends, getting plenty of fresh air and experiencing the beautiful 2,900 acre campus of Saint John’s Prep and Saint John’s University. Participants will enjoy adventure and age-appropriate discovery activities, guided by academic themes of arts, sciences, and cultural exploration. Each date is filled with fun group activities that exercise the body, challenge the mind and nurture the spirit of our youth.
July 13th – Focus on the Arts:
The first block will consist of an Introduction to Musical Theater Workshop. Kids will learn techniques to prepare for participation in musical theater. All skill levels welcome! The second block will bring us into the woods for an introduction to orienteering and hiking through the trails of Saint John’s University.
July 20th – Focus on the Sciences:
Kids will get their hands dirty while participating in an outdoor education program to improve their environmental literacy and emotional connectedness to the natural world. Then, kids will head out to Lake Sagatagan for an introduction to canoeing and water safety. Life jackets will be provided.
July 27th – Focus on Cultural Exploration:
The first block will be an introduction to Asian Culture, and students will participate in traditional paper cutting and a fashion show! Following this session, students will head outdoors where they will learn basic camping skills and prepare lunch over an open flame. Lunch will also include a traditional food item.

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $50/date or $120 for all 3
Location: Saint John’s Prep School
All sessions will include a snack, lunch, and camp t-shirt.
