Saint John’s Prep Congratulates Commended Students in National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations Angelina ’21 and Adrienne ’21!

Two Saint John’s Prep seniors are being honored as Commended Students in the 2020-21 National Merit® Scholarship Program. Adrienne Gefre is the daughter of Katherine and Brian Gefre of Sartell.
Yu (Angelina) Qiu is the daughter of Li Zhang of Sauk Rapids. Adrienne is captain of the tennis team and co-president of Creative Writing Club and a member of the National Honor Society. Angelina is a member of the Math and Envirothon teams.

Angelina and Adrienne scored in the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.5 million students who took the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. 34,000 students across the nation are being honored as commended scholars for their exceptional academic promise.

Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships, some are candidates for other special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
