What is Variable Tuition? Posted on January 16, 2019 in Affordability, Press Releases Making Saint John’s Prep Education Accessible for families Selecting a school for your children is tough enough for parents, and when weighing the options, cost and expenses directly impact that educational decision. Saint John’s Prep is dedicated making our campus accessible to all families, of all financial backgrounds, with Variable Tuition. Saint John’s Prep proudly offers Variable Tuition, which is a a need-based tuition assistance program. Our variable tuition program allows families to apply for reduced tuition (grades 6-12), making an education at Saint John’s Prep affordable for qualified students and their families. Tuition for Saint John’s Prep families who apply for Variable Tuition is on a sliding scale, it ranges from 40-90% of the full cost of education. Variable Tuition adjusts tuition rates to meet your family’s unique financial situation. All families entering grades 6-12 are eligible to apply for Variable Tuition. This tuition program weighs each family’s unique circumstances, which include but are not limited to: income, assets, unusual expenses, and the number of students in the family enrolled in tuition based schools. To assess a family’s eligibility for Variable Tuition, we partner with SmartAid, a third-party provider used by schools across the country. SmartAid calculates what a family can reasonably be expected to pay and passes that information along to Saint John’s Prep. Applying for Variable Tuition doesn’t impact the admission process. In fact, families don’t participate in the Variable Tuition process until after their student has completed their application and been formally admitted to the school.
