Ford-McCormick Soccer Field Blessing Posted on October 9, 2026 in Activities, Press Releases, Student NewsTagged capital campaign, citizenship, community, donor, field, leadership, soccer On October 8, 2026, Saint John’s Prep Chaplain Edward Vebelun, OSB, led students, faculty and staff through a blessing of the Ford-McCormick Soccer Field. The Pep Band played as students circled midfield for the ceremony. The soccer captains helped Fr. Edward bless the field with holy water. Head of School Jon McGee cut the ceremonial red ribbon in the middle of the soccer field. The Lake Sagatagan soccer field was restored as part of the Prep Forward: Our Time Is Now capital campaign. Generous support and funding came from the Ford and McCormick families, Bernie Weber ’63, Bill Sexton, as well as the Class of 1980 and many Prep athletics fans. The soccer field improvements include a new grass field with improved leveling and drainage, a new well and irrigation system, and spectator bleachers. A new flag pole and soccer ball stop nets will be added in the spring.
