Saint John’s Prep Seniors Earn AAA Award

Collegeville, MN:  Seniors Cullin Egge and Sonja Johnson are the Saint John’s Prep recipients of the “Triple A (Academics, Arts and Athletics) Award” by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).  According to the MSHSL, the purpose of this program is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts.  The two will be honored at the Section 5A Triple A Award Banquet on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Paynesville Legion Club.

Cullin is president of World Club and a member of choir and chamber choir. Cullin is an active performer for Saint John’s Prep Theatre Department and has been in several productions, including Godspell and Antigonick. He will take the stage next in the musical Les Miserables. Cullin has been recognized by the Hennepin Theatre Trust Educational Spotlight Program and will perform onstage in Minneapolis this summer. Cullin is also a member of the Saint John’s Prep Track Team. Cullin plans to take a gap year in 2018 and participate in a mission trip to Guatemala. He plans to attend college in Chicago in the fall of 2019.

Sonja is a member of the soccer and track teams and has also played basketball for Saint John’s Prep. Sonja received the achievement award for the Saint John’s Prep Fine Arts Department in the spring 2017. She loves creating pottery in the SJP studio. Sonja is also an accomplished ballerina who has danced since early childhood. Her most recent performance was the Nutcracker at the Paramount Center for the Arts. Sonja also is a talented skier who teaches young children at Power Ridge in Kimball. Sonja’s plans after graduation include studying nursing at a four-year college or university.

Criteria for the Triple A Award include:  Exhibit citizenship and be a respected individual in their home communities and school, have participated in a MSHSL-sponsored athletic program and fine arts activity, maintain a GPA of  3.0 or higher , and comply with the MSHSL’s Student Code of Conduct.
