Michael George Gmeinder ’70

Michael George Gmeinder, age 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6th, at his home after a long battle with cancer.   Mike was born Jan. 14, 1952 to George and Eleanore Burns Gmeinder in St. Paul, MN

Mike was a 1970 graduate of St. John’s Prep School and spent his junior high school year in Melk, Austria. Mike and his wife, Ruth, co-owned Gull Lake Resort for 33 years.  He previously had been a building contractor.

Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth, sons, Christopher Gmeinder, and Brent Gmeinder, grandsons, Gabriel, Lucas, and Emmet Gmeinder. Brothers, Thom (Gwen) Gmeinder, Robert (Betty) Gmeinder, and Al (Barb) Gmeinder. Mike was preceded in death by his parents George and Eleanore, and son Tyler Patrick Gmeinder.

A private family ceremony will be held due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd, MN.
