Robert J. “Bob” McCarthy was born in New York on August 14, 1944, and died peacefully on May 17, 2021 at the University of Minnesota Hospital at the age of 76.

He graduated from St. John’s University and had long career in the insurance industry. Bob was a loving husband to his wife Cheryl; loving father and Bumpa to his four children and 8 grandchildren: son: Rob, his wife Angie, and children Zach, Emily and Addison; daughter: Katy and her husband Eric and children Eilif, Otto, and Astri; daughter: Ceara; and son: Brendan, his wife Carly, and children Isla and Molly.

He was a loving brother to his brothers Jack (Terri), Dan (Jeanne), Tim, Brian (Erica) and Tom (Patti) and sister-in-law Therese and brother-in-law Jim Fisher and loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by parents Robert Kenneth McCarthy and Ruth Janet (Creeden) McCarthy, sister Mary (McCarthy) Fisher & brother Patrick McCarthy, and sister-in-law Mary (Moll) McCarthy. Bob loved spending time with family and friends. He was a storyteller and a minstrel of Bumpa jokes. His welcoming spirit made him a friend to all.
