Oswald “Ozzie” Schmitz, 92
May 30, 1924 – Feb. 14, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Oswald “Ozzie” Schmitz, age 92, who died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Entombment will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.  Visitation will continue from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon in the St. Boniface Church Narthex.

Oswald was born in Richmond, MN to John and Theresia (Schramel) Schmitz.  He married Dolores Statz on September 9, 1947 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN.  Oswald attended St. John’s Prep and graduated from St. Boniface High School.  He worked as a farmer for 43 years and the Cold Spring Brewery for 47 years.  In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and traveling.  Above all he loved his family.  Oswald was a 75 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters #633.

Survivors include his children, John (Mary), Jim (Debbie), Ken (Sharon), Janet (Dave) Jensen, Denis (Jean), and Mike; siblings, Othmar, Genevieve, Victor, Roman, Wendy, Theresia; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores; siblings, Christ, Michael, Edwin, Marie, Melvin and great-grandson, Dylan.
