This is our weekly email to share news and updates about our athletic teams and competing activity teams. The coaches provide the highlights from the past week’s matches and games. A schedule of this week’s competitions is posted at the bottom of the email.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving

The girls’ swimming and diving team competed at their conference meet on Saturday, October 28. Of the 7 teams competing in the meet, we earned 3rd place.

Justine Meyer ’20 earned her fastest 50 free time in the 200 Medley relay with 26.47. Cambel Shepherd ’23 earned her best times in the 200 free with a 2:17.81 and earned a 7th place ribbon with the 500 free and the time of 6:03.49. In the 500 freestyle,  3 of the 4 girls on the team who swam placed in the top 8 and were given ribbons. Sophie Hwang ’22 took 5th place in the 100 fly with a time of 1:10.11 and Ari Denning ’18 had a time of 1:16.56 in the 100 fly.

Up next is Sections Prelims, at Sauk Rapids on November 9th, with Section Finals on the November 11.


Cross Country

The Cross Country season wrapped up on Thursday in Long Prairie with the Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity teams competing with 24 other teams for an chance to advance to the State Championship at Saint Olaf.

Saint John’s Prep was well represented in the very tough and competitive Section Luc Westling ’20 and Andy Moen ’18 led the boys’ to a respectable team finish of 18th overall.

For the girls’, with the help of our multi-sport athletes, we finished 18th as well. Thank you girls, for taking the time to participate and compete showing SJP proud.

As we end the season, we offer appreciation to the seniors: Andy Moen ’18, Nate Salzl ’18, Patrick Montoya ’18 and HP Xue ’18 for their leadership and guidance.

We have a great younger team ready to take up the mantle and lead Saint John’s Prep in 2018!


Middle School Knowledge Bowl

The Middle School Knowledge Bowl team had a great start to the season with our first meet of the season at STRIDE Academy on Oct. 26.  There were 81 teams in attendance from grades 5 – 8.

The teams were divided into two divisions after the written round, a top half and a bottom half. Saint John’s Prep 7th and 8th grade teams did great, taking 1st, 3rd and 14th in the top 7/8 division, and 3rd in the lower division.

The 6th grade teams also had a great meet, finishing in 3rd, 7th an 12th in the top division.Our top 7th and 8th grade team, consisting of Sam Hoover ’22, Billy Jiang ’22, Libby Pfannenstein ’22, Nicolas Roering ’22, and Sam Roseboom ’23,  finished in 1st overall out of all 81 teams.
All of our KB team members showed great teamwork and were tough competitors!
