Girls’ Soccer

Head Coach Eric Yanke

The Johnnies Girls Soccer team was in action twice last week. We started by heading up to Melrose on Monday, Sept. 11. Valeriya Woodard ’21 had a breakout performance with 4 goals! She was assisted by a variety of players including a beautiful pass from Bella Dardon ’21 in the first half. Jordyn Tomaszewski ’18 kept a clean sheet in goal working with Sonja Johnson ’18, center defender, to coordinate a stifling defense. Additional goals were added by Reid Nydeen ’19 and Lizzy Kolb ’19.
Becker came to campus on Thursday and played a very solid game to beat the Johnnies 9-1.
Reid Nydeen ’19 was the lone goal scorer on an incredible shot from the right side of the 18 yard box into the side netting.

Boys’ Soccer

Head Coach Dan Stark

The Johnnies had an action-packed week of games, finishing undefeated–with two wins and a tie. On Monday, against Sauk Rapids-Rice, the Johnnies won 3-1. Gabe Woodard ’18 led the defense to smother the Storm attack. Drew Richter ’18 scored two goals and Kevin Stark-Haws ’18 scored the 3rd.

On Tuesday, the Johnnies faced the Melrose Dutchmen. In a difficult game, the team secured another 3-1 win. Drew Richter netted another goal, along with Kaima Nakata ’19 and Nick McGee ’18. In the final game of the week against Becker, the Johnnies tied 1-1.  Kevin Stark-Haws scored to give us the lead but Becker scored a late goal to tie. Nick Foss ’18 had a great week in goal.

Girls’ Tennis

Head Coach Mark Muntifering
Assistant Coach Charles Miller

The girls’ tennis team had a good week filled with early morning practices at the SJU courts. The one match scheduled for the week of Sept. 11 was rained out.
The Girls’ Varsity team competes vs. Sartell today at 4:15 pm at the SJU courts

Cross Country

Head Coach Lance Nydeen

The Saint John’s Prep Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country teams were up for an early look at our Sectional competitors at Long Prairie Golf Club last week.  The competition was outstanding, the energy high as our Boys varsity competed with a strong showing by Luc Westling ’20 at 31st in a field of over 140, and Girls looked good with a strong top 10 finish in the JV race for Katie John ’19.
Johnnies return to action today, September 18, at the Pierz Stampede.  Races begin at 4pm at the Pierz Golf Club.
We will be on a break until September 28 when we host our own Cross Country Invitational at the Radio Tower Field.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving

Head Coach Jen Daiker

The Johnnies are back in action this week on Monday at Sauk Rapids and Thursday in Little Falls.
