Amelia Broman ’17

Saint John’s Preparatory School is proud to recognize the outstanding performance of its students in the Drake University physics contest. Each year Drake holds the contest for high school physics students in Iowa, Minnesota, South and North Dakota, and Nebraska. Senior Amelia Broman ‘17 finished in 3rd place. She is the daughter of Bruce Broman and Evelyn Erickson of St. Cloud.

Zander Haws ’18

Junior Zander Haws ’18 placed 8th on the exam, and Junior Toto Chen ’18 placed 18th. The Drake Physics contest is a rigorous, two-hour test written by the faculty of the Drake Physics and Astronomy Department. First prize in the test is a full, four-year tuition scholarship to the Drake Physics and Astronomy department. A second four-year tuition student, high school teacher and counselor recommendations, and the results of the interviews held in April.

Eight of our seniors finished in the top 50 seniors who took the exam. They are all eligible to apply for a full scholarship to the Drake University physics program. They are Amelia Broman, Risa Fines, Vincent Pan, Max Seymour, Bryn Rogers, Jim Song, Andrew Heroux and Tom Le.

Their success is evidence of their effort,” said Charles Miller, Saint John’s Prep Physics teacher.Preparatory School has each year with the Drake Challenge. “Congratulations! Your students did an amazing job again this year and you have a very strong physics program.”
