Saint John’s Preparatory School Announces Top Ten 2023 Graduates

Saint John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville will hold its 166th commencement ceremony Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Saint John’s Abbey Church. It will begin with a 3:00 p.m.  Baccalaureate Mass with Saint Cloud Diocese Bishop Patrick Neary and Saint John’s Abbey Abbot John Klassen ’67, OSB. The commencement ceremony will follow Mass. 43 students will receive diplomas this year. The seniors selected Mr. Lance Nydeen, a Saint John’s Prep History and Social Studies instructor, to deliver the commencement address. Senior Sylva Bohannon of Saint Joseph will give the senior address.

The Class of 2023 is made up of students from the United States, France, China, Korea and Japan and Nigeria. Our graduating class includes students from 10 Minnesota cities and towns: Cold Spring, Glenwood, Minnetonka, Rockville, Saint Augusta, Saint Cloud, Saint Joseph, Sartell, Waite Park, and White Bear Lake.

Top Ten

Principal Dr. Christine Glomski is proud to name the Top Ten Seniors for the Saint John’s Prep Class of 2023. The top graduates are listed in alphabetical order:

Laina Burris is the daughter of Paul and Andrea Burris of Saint Cloud. She will attend Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio in the fall.

Gyeongmin Choi is the daughter of Injun Choi and Yoojin Hwang of Seoul, Korea. She will attend Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio next semester.

Grace Dauer is the daughter of Brian and Eileen Dauer of Cold Spring. She will attend the  Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado after completing a yearlong program with Education First.  

Ashlee DelRe is the daughter of Janet DelRe of Saint Cloud. She will attend the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities this fall.

Kyumin (Kai) Kang is the son of  Sun Hye Jung and Sang Yoon Kang of Seongnam-si, Korea. He will attend New York University in Greenwich Village in New York City next semester.

Hangyu (Han) Kwon is the son of  Keeyoung Kwon and Junghoon Lee of Seoul, Korea. He will attend at the Sciences Po – Institut d’ Etudes Politiques in Paris, France in the fall.

Changha (Peter) Lee is the son of JaeHyun Lee and JungA Lee of Seoul, Korea. He will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign next semester.

Katherine McGee is the daughter of Jon and Ann McGee of Cold Spring. She will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall.

Clara Schleper is the daughter of Alex and Susan Schleper of Saint Joseph. She will attend the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph in the fall.

Cambel Shepherd is the daughter of Linda and Colin Shepherd of Saint Cloud. She will attend the University of Dundee School of Law in Dundee, Scotland next semester.
