Guest Scholars Support Honors Candidates

Guest Readers

Our Honors Capstone students are taking a big step toward completing their capstone research papers. After than two months of research and writing they’re sharing their extensive academic research and writing with visiting scholars. Each honors candidate is sharing their rough drafts to one of the guest scholars and to receive critical feedback on these interdisciplinary research papers. The final paper is due in its polished form on October 31.

The mentors are current or retired Prep teachers, local industry experts, or educators at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. Ms. Pasela and Ms. Fitch, the instructors of the Capstone class, want to give special thanks to: Theresa Anderson, Dixie Boschee, Carol Brash, Kathy Doom, John Geissler, Jeff Kirchoff, Annie Larson. John Neal, Michelle Neal, Jason Schlude, Stacey Schrupp, Nancy Weldon, and Eric Yanke, who all gave their time and talents to our group of Capstone students.

The Honors Capstone class is part of Saint John’s Preparatory School’s exclusive program, Aspire2Excellence, which allows students to be the architect of their own experience and future. Prep students have opportunities to develop a personalized learning plan made up of core courses, merits, and distinctions. Their capstone papers and projects delve deep into an intellectual question and provide them with the flexibility and encouragement to discover who they are and what they love.

The Honors Capstone class is made up of seniors who are working towards earning the highest level of academic distinction at Saint John’s Prep. Students who graduate with Honors demonstrate exceptional academic and intellectual depth and achievement. To earn this distinguished recognition, Honors candidates must complete an interdisciplinary faculty-advised Senior Capstone that is based on a combination of research/original creative work, writing, and presentation.

Save the date for May 16, 2025, when Prep will host the annual Aspire to Excellence Scholarship Day. Our honors candidates will share their amazing research and findings.
