Schirmers, of the Minneapolis area, was born March 23, 1939, and passed away January 3, 2025.Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Schirmers, brother Gerald, his sister Diane Lehn, his parents Leo and Mary Schirmers and son in law Richard Cotton. Survived by his children, Shawn (Rony) Gregoire, Todd, Brad (Angie) and Sheryl Cotton; grandchildren Donovan (Jessica), Sherlie, Christophe, Matthew (Brittany), Julia (Joshua), Blake, Robert (Emina), Douglas (Abigale); great grandchildren Aaden, Amira, Ripley, Lily and Leo; sister-in-law Roberta Harrington; and many cherished friends.Doug lived a good life, working hard and enjoying traveling between Minnesota and Arizona, and cherished time with family, friends and his faith.Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 18 with visitation one hour before, and luncheon to follow the service at: Washburn-McReavy, 1400 Main St., Hopkins.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
