In Memoriam – Gregory j. DeWitt ’69

Gregory Joseph DeWitt, age 73, of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Rio Verde, Arizona, passed away on March 25, 2024. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 15, 1951. Greg prioritized family and friends, never missing an opportunity to celebrate special occasions with loved ones in Rio Verde and Stillwater. He was a mentor to his nieces and nephews, always offering words of encouragement. Greg was a cherished friend, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle; his presence will be deeply missed.

Greg attended Saint John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville, Minnesota, and Melk Abby Secondary School in Melk, Austria (1967-1968). He graduated from Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a BS degree in History and a Master’s Degree in Political Science. In his career, Greg was an Executive Vice President of the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. He later went on to get his residential building contractor license as well as his residential real estate license.

Outside of work, Greg enjoyed splitting his time between homes in Rio Verde, Arizona, and Stillwater, Minnesota. Greg had many passions. He loved the arts, global travel, dancing, golf, bridge, and pickleball. He cherished his mornings with a cup of coffee and pickleball matches with friends.

Greg is survived by brothers, John, David, Paul (Becky) sister Nell (John), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Mary and Eugene DeWitt, and sister-in-law Pam DeWitt.

A memorial service will be held at the Rio Verde Community Church on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family is also planning a memorial service in Minnesota in June. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Andre House of Phoenix, Arizona, and the Minnesota Animal Humane Society.

Greg’s warm spirit and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. The family would also like to extend their love and appreciation to Greg’s support team at HonorHealth Thompson Peak Medical Center ICU.
