In Memoriam ~ Michael M. Donahue ’50

Michael M. Donahue ’50  
Michael Martin Donahue, age 91, of Plymouth passed away on February 3, 2024, of natural causes. Michael was born in St. Cloud to Garrett and Erma Donahue. He attended St. John’s Preparatory School and Saint John’s University, graduating with an Economics degree.  

Michael married his childhood sweetheart Mary Donahue in 1954. The couple had four children: Kathleen, Gary, Margaret, and William. Michael spent his career working for various iterations of the Burlington Northern Railway. He began as a laborer on a section crew and retired in 1988 as a vice president, working primarily in operations and strategic planning.  

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Daniel and Patricia Crowe.   He is survived by his children, Gary (Debby), Margaret, and William (Jane); his grandchildren, Michael Donahue, Karl Svensson, Maggie Litchy, Kelly Donahue, Sarah Cooke, Steven Donahue, Daniel Donahue, and Erik Svensson; and twelve great-grandchildren.  

Michael will be remembered for his love of family and friends, devotion to causes he believed in, playful sense of humor, and love of the outdoors.
