Ralph E. Mahowald, Jr., 84, of Phoenix passed away on September 4, 2022. Born in Grand Forks, ND, on June 29, 1938, Ralph attended St. John’s Prep in Collegeville, MN, University of North Dakota, and University of Michigan College of Law, where he graduated in 1963.

Ralph and his first wife Gail moved to Phoenix in 1963. He started his law career at the Arizona Corporation Commission. In 1964, he joined the law firm of O’Connor Cavanaugh. Ralph was a lifetime member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association, past president of the Maricopa County Bar, Board of Governors-State Bar Assoc. of AZ 1983-1987, American Board Trial Advocates and member and past president of Luke’s Men.

Ralph is predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years, Karen Landino, sister Mary Thompson and parents Dr. Ralph and Dorothy Mahowald. Ralph is survived by his daughter Ann Reid (Jim), son Peter (Kimberly), stepson Robert Landino (Denise), and stepson Marcus Landino (Meredith), eight grandchildren, J. Reid, Sean Reid (Shannon), Reilly Reid (Stefanie), Luke Landino, Jake Landino, Vivienne Landino, Ryan Graybill, and Sydney Graybill, two great granddaughters Ruari and Ryan Reid, siblings Margo Doll (Lou), Richard Mahowald, Leslie Fairfield, Michael Mahowald (Anne), many nieces and nephews, Gail Mahowald and numerous special friends. Good food, good wine, fun travel and entertaining friends were his mantras in life. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 29, 2022. Please visit hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
