In Memoriam ~ Sandra Conway, wife of James Conway ’58

Sandra Conway, wife of James Conway ’58

Sandra Jean Conway, Age 80, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of December 16 following a long struggle with COPD. Sandie was born in Superior, WI September 14, 1940, to Donald J. and Margaret Agnes Jensen and married her husband and high school sweetheart, James E. Conway, in 1963. The two had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

In addition to Jim, Sandie is survived by two beloved children, Matthew John Conway and Kathryn Dower Conway, both of Minneapolis; sister, Claudette (Gene) Byrnes and spouse Gene, Benbrook, TX; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Sandie attended Superior Cathedral High School and the University of Wisconsin, serving with vigor as a cheerleader at both schools. Following graduation from the Duluth Clinic Medical Secretary School, she worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Bloomington Lake Clinic in Minneapolis. She was active as a volunteer for Children’s Hospital and in Cub Scouts before relocating with her family in the mid 1970’s to Miami and in 1980 to Great Falls, VA. There she began a successful 30-year career in real estate sales while volunteering for many years with the Fairfax County Department of Heath and Human Services before moving back to Minneapolis in late 2017.

Sandie was a dog-lover, enjoyed traveling extensively, and was blessed with an ever-happy personality even while struggling with health issues. She will forever remain in our hearts. Services will be private. Memorials preferred to The College of St. Benedict or Saint Albert the Great Church, Minneapolis. O’Halloran and Murphy 651-698-0796
