Todd Kale,
Son-in-law of Tom ’66 and Ann Walerius

Todd Kale, 52, of Plymouth, MN passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2023. He was born in Cheektowaga, NY, to Gary and Sandra (Benz) Kale on September 21, 1970. He grew up in Orchard Park, NY with his sister Jennifer. He attended Orchard Park High School (class of 1988), where he swam competitively.

Todd attended SUNY Erie Community College, where he received an A.S. in Architectural Technology. He then attended University of North Dakota, where he received a B.S. in Aeronautical Studies. He met lifelong friends at UND, including Jennifer Walerius, his wife of 23 years.   He was a passionate aviator. He started his career by teaching students how to fly at UND. He provided hail suppression for the farmers of North Dakota by seeding thunderstorm clouds. He flew for Continental Express Airlines for 4 years and went on to fly for United Parcel Service for the next 21 years.

Todd’s true love was the outdoors and his faithful canine companion, Abbey. He was an avid sportsman, who traveled to find the best hunting and fishing spots around. He loved to play golf, downhill ski, BBQ, and to sit by the fire drinking a cold beer with friends and family.

He was larger than life and approached everyone with a great big smile; he never met a stranger. His friends affectionately called him “Todd O”, “Big Tree”, “TK”, or “Teddy”.   He was a devoted father who loved to travel and spend time with his son, Nick. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; son, Nicholas; parents: Gary and Sandra; his sister, Jennifer (Carlton) Smith; nieces, Emily and Jessica, as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
