Junior Nick Foss Named to the Prairie Conference All Section and West Subsection 6AA Boys’ Basketball Team

Saint John’s Prep is proud to congratulate Nick Foss ‘18 for being named to the Prairie Conference All Section and West Subsection 6AA Boys’ Basketball Team. Nick is the son of Justin and Lisa Foss of Foley, Minnesota.

Nick Foss ’18

Nick has played basketball for Saint John’s Prep for three years and has played the game itself since he was 5 years old. Nick will receive his honor tonight, Tuesday evening, March 14, following the West Subsection 6AA Championship Game at Sexton Arena at Saint John’s University.

“I enjoy basketball because I feel it blends a lot of the other appealing aspects from other sports into one. You have to have a certain amount of strength while playing, but there has to be an equal amount of skill and finesse or else you will not be successful,” Nick says. “It combines a certain amount of teamwork, but the team will go nowhere without the hard work of the individuals that are on it. Basketball is a game of balance and compromise.”

Nick has enjoyed his junior year on the basketball team. He hopes to serve as a captain next year. “The team this year was a joy to be a part of. We had great senior leadership in our two senior captains and a supporting cast of juniors that were there to fill in the gaps. The team itself was full of players that on any given night could be our leading scorer if they were called on to do so, and there were multiple games this year where we had three or more players in double figures.”

Nick is an active junior at Saint John’s Prep who is the starting goalie on the varsity soccer team. He also plays on the varsity baseball team. When he’s not on the field or court, Nick is a member of the Saint John’s Prep jazz band. He also is a part of the brass quintet.
Nick plans to spend his summer playing baseball and basketball. He also plans to prepare for the ACT and SAT exams. Nick is still deciding what he would like to study in after high school. This summer he also plans to tour several colleges and universities.
