Tom ‘68 and Jann Atkins honored with the Benedictine Spirit Award

Saint John’s Prep Proudly awards †Tom ’68 and Jann Atkins the Benedictine Spirit Award in recognition of the couple’s service and dedication to the SJP mission and community.

Tom served on Prep’s Board of Directors from 2019 until his untimely passing in 2024. During his time on the board, he provided guidance for the school’s leadership as a member of the finance committee and ultimately as board chair, but his service to the Prep community extended far beyond the boardroom.

Together, Tom and Jann dedicated countless hours of service and demonstrated a generous philanthropic spirit in support of Saint John’s Prep. Head of School and friend of Tom and Jann, Jon McGee recalls that Tom contributed a great amount of wisdom to the Prep community as well. Jon says Tom’s lessons were often accompanied with the phrase “yours to use or lose” although Jon is certain Tom never meant the “lose” part.

For their longstanding dedications of time, treasure, and wisdom, Saint John’s Prep is incredibly grateful to Tom and Jann Atkins.

The Benedictine Spirit Award was presented to Jann Atkins October 11, 2026 at Saint John’s Prep’s annual appreciation dinner. Several members of the Atkins family travelled to Collegeville to celebrate this special recognition of Tom ‘68 and Jann.
