New Partnership with Flaherty Family Foundation Creates New Scholarships for Prep Students

Saint John’s Prep is proud to join forces with the Flaherty Family Foundation to provide scholarship funds to high-potential students with economic need. This spring, Prep will offer up to seven new Flaherty Family Foundation scholarships for incoming high school students. The scholarship program will provide access to a Prep education and ensure these young scholars become well- rounded, confident, and successful citizens of the world

More than just a scholarship, the Flaherty Family Foundation also provides mentoring and guidance to support all Flaherty Scholars. Scholars receive personalized coaching to ensure academic success and preparation for college and beyond. The program includes academic support/coaching, college and career readiness, and funding for summer enrichment activities.

Saint John’s Prep and the Flaherty Family Foundation will identify students who fit the specific scholar profile and invite them to apply for the scholarship. The Flaherty Family Foundation will interview the strongest applicants. Scholarship awards will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

“We are so pleased to have an opportunity to partner with the Flaherty Family Foundation to expand student access to premier arts and sciences education in Central Minnesota.  The Foundation has for decades provided talented students with extraordinary support and guidance,” says Saint John’s Prep Head of School Jon McGee. “Our partnership reflects our deep commitment to access and opportunity at Saint John’s Prep. We look forward to working with them for years to come.”

Ed Flaherty began the Flaherty Family Foundation almost 30 years ago. There are currently more than 400 Flaherty Scholars in 35 faith-based partner high schools in Minnesota, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, Montana, and New Jersey.
