A stunning wall of windows, a crisp, stylish kitchen and cozy study spaces and dens.
When Saint John’s Prep resident students return to campus in late August, they’re going to find their home in the Saint Michael Hall is refreshed and reinvigorated! Work is now complete on the $5,450,000 construction project. Saint Michael Hall is now a space where young women and men, residential and day students, can interact to achieve academic success, personal growth, and lifelong friendships.

The new construction and updates include renovations for every student room, a massive gourmet kitchen, two new kitchenettes, new entertainment nooks and community rooms, new bathrooms and laundry facilities, a new multipurpose tech study space, a new gas fireplace and security enhancements for the entryways. The updated to Saint Michael Hall created a first-class residential facility to complement our first-class academic program and co-educational activities.

The construction also includes four new, two-bedroom apartments for staff and their families. Saint Michael Hall has full-time adult staff, living in the new apartments in both the young men’s and young women’s villages. Our staff are college graduates and qualified professionals. They are experienced with young people and work collaboratively to create a respectful, healthy, and safe living community for our all of our students.

For the first time, our young men and women are under one roof, separated by a light-filled walkway and gourmet kitchen. The renovation created two separate living spaces within the existing Saint Michael Hall, a young women’s village and a young men’s village. In 1973, Saint John’s Prep welcomed young women to campus as members of the school. Since then, young women residential students have lived with host families, in dorms at the College of Saint Benedict and now in Emmaus Hall, on the Saint John’s University campus.

Students experience rapid intellectual, emotional and physical growth at Saint John’s Prep and build long-standing relationships as help them live lives of purpose, service and achievement. The boarding program for resident students (available grades 9-12) brings young people together from around the world creating a vibrant community within the residence hall and is accentuated with cultural diversity and friendship. We are excited that the renovation of the Saint John’s Prep residence hall is completed as we prepare to welcome resident students back to campus in a few weeks. We look forward to sharing this completed space and are imagining the new opportunities this will provide our entire school community!

The completion of this project was made possible by the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends. We are grateful for their prayers and support! Please visit this webpage to learn more about the renovation and the donors who supported the effort to renew Saint Michael Hall.
